What A Bird

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

I haven't been blogging very much because a majority of my time has been wrapping up all of my classes. But there are a lot of plans so hopefully I should be posting more.

When I woke up this morning, I was reading my e-mails and I heard a bird. Not a bird as in "outside my window bird" but "outside my apartment bird". I looked outside my door and there it was, a bird flying around the hall way. When I came back from errands, the bird was still there. So I decided to try to snap some photos. The bird was a really good model and let me get fairly close. I tried my best to get it out of the building but it ended up just flying around the halls in circles. Hopefully it found its way out.

Mas de Aquarium

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

No lie, we spent FOREVER petting the sting rays. They would literally swim up to you and poke their heads out for your to touch their heads. I just about died by how cute they turned out to be. They even look like they're smiling when you see their mouths on the other side of the glass.

You can't go to the aquarium without getting soaked.

The Birds

Old movies are the best.

Sorry if the word "old" offends anyone but its true. Mosts made more than 50 years ago are old. Last night I watched The Birds. You can't go wrong with Hitchcock but I hadn't seen the film for probably ten years so I was in a mood and decided to watch it. Watching it now was also different based on other factors.

1. I forgot how it ended.
2. I learned that the leading lady was uncomfortable during the filming because of the sexual advances she received from Hitchcock. So much that during the last scene, because he was upset that she turned him down, he actually threw real birds at her (sheesh).

I noticed things I didn't before, especially like the fact that there was NO MUSIC throughout the whole film. I don't regret watching it but I certainly would watch Psycho over The Birds.

Do you have a favorite Hitchcock film? I would love recommendations.

Counting Crows

Friday, February 7, 2014

As said before, I tend to see things in pictures.

I look at shadows, colors and the way things are positioned. So when I was driving to San Diego and found a large open area (where people use to ride horses) and found all of these crows and eery trees, I said "Why not?"

The conditions were not ideal. It was raining so I had to use my rain sleeve for my camera (which I had never used before), I was rushing before all the birds flew away, I got mud all over my black flats, since the birds were moving so quickly, I didn't have time to adjust my settings for fast moving objects and I couldn't really see through my lens finder if any of the pictures were good or not. It wasn't a hit or miss but it definitely was not the most prepared shooting conditions.
